Living a life far away from the comfort that we are accustomed to is a very eye opening experience for all of us. Our immersion trip to Hacienda Luisita made us realize that our farmers are very vital in our survival; they are the producers of our food and by experiencing the hardship of what they do day to day, raises more our respect to them. We have seen the way that they live, the simple way of living, they have no permanent land to till as of now, no permanent source of income, and yet they are still happy and satisfied with what they have. This first-hand experience made us realize that other people will always have it worse and that we should be more socially aware of our fellow countrymen. We encourage our fellow youth to be a channel for social change, even in their small and peaceful ways. The fight for giving back the land to the Hacienda Luisita farmers is not yet over.
